News Briefs
- The Department granted licensure to Berkshire Hathaway Assurance Corporation to conduct financial guarantee business in Ohio.
- Title insurance agents that handle certain real estate transactions are to have an annual independent financial review completed no later than Dec. 31, 2008.
- The Department maintains a diverse selection of consumer publications/brochures, tip sheets, and insurance company sample premium and complaint ratio data.
- House Bill 404 - which places more consumer safeguards and grants the Department regulatory authority over Stranger Originated Life Insurance (STOLI) - unanimously passed the House of Representatives on Jan. 30 and is being heard in the Senate.
- The Department served as host of the 2008 Ohio Insurance Fraud Seminar, held March 19 in Columbus.

Former Delaware Chiropractor Zahir Sherazee Sentenced for Insurance Fraud
As a result of a joint investigation conducted by the Department, the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, the Delaware County Drug Task Force and the Ohio Chiropractic Board, Zahir Sherazee, a former Delaware-based chiropractor whose license was revoked in 2005, was ordered to serve a five-year, two-month prison sentence. He was also fined $20,000.

Director Hudson has ordered Rampage Marketing Services, Inc. of Highland Heights, Ohio to pay nearly $15,000 in fines, administrative costs and restitution for improperly disposing of client information.
